What it is

Inanimator is a browser-based animation studio built for the object show genre — the BFDI-style animated series where everyday objects compete and get eliminated. It covers the whole pipeline in one place: drawing character parts, rigging and posing them, frame-by-frame animation with onion skinning, math-based tweening, and 1080p MP4 export. It runs on phones, tablets, and computers, with cloud sync across devices.

Status

Closed beta. The waitlist is open at inanimator.com/beta, and invites go out in weekly waves. Inanimator is free during beta; beta members lock in the Founding Creator price for life.

The pledge

Inanimator is 100 percent generative-AI-free. No AI-generated art, ever — signed in marker on the homepage. Tweening is 1990s-style mathematical interpolation, not AI. That’s unusual enough in 2026 to be worth stating plainly.

Why it’s notable

  • The first animation tool purpose-built for the object show genre, rather than a general-purpose app bent to fit.
  • Browser-based — nothing to install, works across devices.
  • The whole pipeline in one place, so a creator isn’t stitching together a drawing app, a rigging app, an audio app, and an editor.

Founder

Built by a dad-and-son team after watching young creators juggle four apps to make one episode.

Boilerplate

Inanimator is a browser-based animation studio for the object show community. It brings drawing, rigging, animation, and export into a single browser tab, under a 100 percent generative-AI-free pledge. It is currently in closed beta.
